For over 20 years, Kate’s Paperie has been a premier stationery resource known throughout the New York metro area for its beautiful paper and unique tools to bring it to life. Like others in the wedding stationery industry, Kate’s has evolved with the times. Recently re-established in a new SoHo location at 188 Lafayette Street in New York City, the store has been delighted to add Kleinfeld Paper into its lineup of designer wedding invitations and social stationery.
“We always want to bring in new and exciting vendors,” says Donna Lamendola, Custom Printing Manager. “Kleinfeld is such a wonderful and established brand in bridal fashion, so we need to be part of their stationery line. We choose the best and want to present our brides with the best. ”
Expressing Personal Style on Paper
One of the unique things Kate’s has been known for is exploring endless possibilities in the spectacular and sometimes surprising world of paper. This focus is a cornerstone of the store’s founding mission.
“We’ve have traveled the globe to discover the most extraordinary materials to ignite the imagination and inspire the creative mind, hands and spirit,” explains Donna. “We’re absolutely delighted to bring new products and services online and into our stores to help our customers express their own personal creative vision–with a little help from us!”
When it comes to wedding stationery trends, Kate’s sees more couples wanting to put their own personal touch into designer wedding invitations. Some using their own artwork that’s not just out of a book that means something to them. Also increasingly important to brides is anything with originality, which feels new and fresh, or puts a twist on the classic.
Tips on Shopping for Designer Wedding Invitations at Kate’s
While you can always call to set an appointment, Kate takes walk-in clients all 7 days a week. As is true for most retail stationers, the business months are wedding season, February through May, and the holiday season, November through December. It’s best to make an appointment about a week in advance, and it can depend on the date of your wedding.
Regardless of when or how a bride-to-be comes to Kate’s, she can always expect the best customer service. “We are dedicated to bringing our brides dreams come true and custom printing associates are with you the whole process our job is to make you not worry.”
For couples on a limited budget for wedding stationery, Kate’s recommends possible ways to trim costs such as choosing machine calligraphy over hiring a professional hand calligrapher, but definitely not skipping calligraphy altogether as it provides a great finishing touch to the presenting of the invitation. Other way to cut include laser or digital printing, or not ordering full bridal suites (menus, directions, programs, place cards, etc.) Designer lines like Kleinfeld Paper ensure customers can pick and choose only those wedding stationery components they need for their suite, customizing each one to their personalize style.
Kate’s recommends that brides bring with them to their first appointment any samples of their theme or style, including a way to share Pinterest images, or actual magazine clippings. It also helps to have a confident idea about whether the event will be a more formal vs. casual style, and to have a handle on the approximate quantity of invitations (which is not the same as the number of guests!)
